Geophysics

On March 12th and April 18th, after the borehole had reached a depth of 40 feet, a geophysical log was collected in the open hole prior to the installation of the surface casing. A natural gamma log was collected using a Century Geophysical Corporation model 8043A induction tool. The hole was logged twice, both in the up and down direction. The hole was logged again after the drilling had reached basement.

Raw LAS Files from 0 to 40 ft*
3/12/04
Down, open hole 47K
Up, open hole 47K
Raw LAS Files from 0 to 1090 ft*
4/18/04
Down, open hole 47K

* These logs are provisional; they have not been reviewed and are subject to both review and revision.

Nannofossils

Calcareous nannofossils are the fossilized remains of single-celled, golden brown marine algae. A single cell (coccolithophore) can be covered by as many as 30 small calcareous plates, which form a protective shell, and is called a coccosphere. Each small plate can range from 3 to 20 microns in size. It is rare to find intact coccospheres; usually micropaleontologists examine and study only single plates.

Zone CC19 is an absence zone defined by the absence of specific nannofossils

The base of Zone CC23 is defined by the last occurrence of the calcareous nannofossil Reinhardtites anthophorous (a type of golden brown fossil marine algae nannofossil) and by the co-occurrence of Reinhardtites levis and Quadrum trifidum.
