Coastal Carolina Project 2001 - Kure Beach
Flanner Beach

Upper

The top of the corehole drilling was through undifferentated holocene sediments. Some of these sediments are similar in color, texture, and lithology to those of known Flanner Beach formations to the north.

The section cycles through several regressive and transgressive sequences. Deposition includes sands, clays, and shellhash, with various portions of the sequences repeating themselves. The mottled greys and blacks are shells, shellhash, silts, sands, and clays. None of these sediments are cemented.
