LIST OF ALL LAKE, METEOROLOGICAL, AND SPRING STATIONS

The map above shows lake, spring, and meteorological sites in the Appalachian Region of North Carolina where hydrologic data have been collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Since the early 1900's, the USGS has collected a variety of data at 76 lake sites, primarily at Lake James and Rhodhiss Lake. Of these lake sites, 2 are currently (2001) active sources of real-time water-level data. Water-quality data are available for 49 lake sites from which over 1,050 water-quality samples have been collected. In addition, 23 springs have been located and inventoried by the USGS in the region, and meteorological data have been collected at 33 sites, 19 of which are currently active sources of real-time data. Hydrologic data are available at the USGS Real Time Data for North Carolina NWIS-Web site.

Site-specific information about USGS sites operated in the Appalachian Region of North Carolina is available at the USGS North Carolina District Web site.
